After Mary was visited by the angel Gabriel, she went to visit her cousin, Elizabeth, who was carrying John the Baptist in her womb. How joyous Elizabeth must have been? The last time she saw Mary, she was only her cousin. This time when she saw Mary, not only was she her cousin, but also carrying the savior of the world in her womb. Both Elizabeth and John, who was not born yet, could feel the presence of God in Mary.
Do we make a womb for Jesus to live in us? When others see us, do they just see us as their sister, brother, cousin, friend, and so on? Or can they feel the presence of God in us? We all have a womb made for Jesus. Is our womb like the manger that He was born in? Outside of the house where the animals live and eat from? Or do we take time to make room for God in our lives and allow Him to come into our inner most being instead of staying on the surface of our skin? If we leave Him on the surface, He can be easily washed off. If we allow Him to enter into our inner most being, He is not as easily washed away during times of trouble.
He wants to inhabit the inner most being where our womb is for Him. However, we put locks on that womb and put barriers up to keep Him on the surface. Once we allow Him into our womb, He will seep out of our skin. Everyone we meet, should feel God’s presence in all that we do and say. Just as Elizabeth and John felt the presence of God in Mary.
